Zac's 1st basketball tournament!

The big day is here! The day that Zac has been waiting for! It's the first basketball tournament for Zac and his team! The boys will be playing in the North Zone Primary Schools Basketball Championships 2016 in the Junior Boys category.

Held at Anderson Primary, the children will be competing against their opponent from Greenwood Primary.

I watched with pride as our son played. The whole team did really well. All the players have their own strengths. I saw good team spirit among the boys! After all, that's what we wanted to see. Like what the school principal, Mr Wong, emphasised "The most important thing is to have fun. Good sportsmanship. Winning is a bonus!"
That anxiety...
Watching the match between
Horizon Pri and North Spring Pri...

That's our boy! 10 points scored by him today! So proud of him!

Go Zac!

And Canberra won!

Zac and John... They called themselves "The Fake Twins" because they share the same birthdate and year... 23rd September 2005!

Back to school!

Back to school guys! Gadgets away for now! Our big boy is going to be in P5 and big girl in P3. Seriously, where has time gone?
Look at that smile! Can u feel Nana's excitement? She has been looking forward to going back to school! On the other hand, Zac has been complaining that the holidays are too short!

*On a side note, our ironman papa has 3 extra sets of uniform to iron now! Luckily mama is in charge of the other "department" at home... Phew! Hehe... Good luck ironing the pleats Pa!

Fun Tuesday!

We planned to explore Pulau Ubin today but it was raining heavily this morning...

So change of plans... Drove to the West, went to Qian Hu Fish Farm and Lim Chu Kang jetty before heading down to the Hay Dairies goat farm.

I was telling the kids how my dad use to force me to drink the smelly goat's milk because of the health benefits it has for asthmatic patients. Unfortunately, the farm is close every Tuesday! So no meh-meh milk to try today!

We ended the day with a few games of bowling... The kids really enjoyed themselves!

Our little chefs

I meant to search for a cookbook and thus made a trip to the library on Wednesday. And since the kids were home due to PSLE marking closure, I brought them along. The two of them were on their own looking for books while I immersed myself in my pile of cookbooks... Its funny when both showed me the books they intended to borrow...

"Ma, they have really good recipes here. Can we borrow? We thought of cooking for you and papa on Saturday."

And so, today marks a new milestone for our precious kids... Nana cooked scrambled eggs and pancakes for breakfast... She cracked the eggs, weighed the different ingredients according to the recipe and managed the frying all by herself. Of course under our close supervision...

For lunch, Zac planned on cooking hamburger and BBQ chicken... We ran out of quite a number of ingredients and Zac volunteered to do the shopping all by himself!

Look at our sumptuous lunch!

I want to wash my shoes!

Our weekends are usually busy. We find ourselves running from one place to another, rushing to get our marketing done, run errands, visit our parents, etc etc. And most importantly, ensure that the kids' school work is complete. Madness!!!

Anyway, Zac has been wanting to wash his school shoes himself. But we really couldn't afford the time to let him do it.

Today, since we are forced to stay indoors due to the haze, its the perfect time to show him the skills to get that sparkly white shoes!
And he did it! Exceed our expectations! A good scrub and his grey shoes turned white!

Happy Mother's Day!

So this is project MDP (Mother's Day Parade) which the kids have been talking about all week... Woke me up at 8am and Nana began her speech and song performance. Then Zac walked in carefully with my breakfast. And a flower was presented...
Moved me to tears when dear said he saw Nana dropped the flower on the road while he was driving home. Without looking out for any incoming vehicles, she rushed back to pick this flower up... This was how important this flower and project was to her...
Happy Mother's Day to all mums out there!

Big changes for 2015

Happy 2015 everyone! Have you thought of your new year resolutions yet?

Anyway, it's the first day of school today. Zac is now in P4 and Nana in P2. Can't believe how fast time flies... My babies are no longer babies.

Ever since the bad experiences with maids, both kids requested to go to a Before/After School Student Care Service instead... They no longer want to be taken care of by a maid...

It was such a tough decision. So many factors to consider. Despite the many worries we had, the biggest achievement we attained out of this new arrangement is watching the 2 children be independent. Zac being the older one, helped to send Nana to student care before going off to school... They look out for each other. Heartwarming to see them together...

We are proud parents!

Super Family

Remember the video which I made recently for my 15th anniversary? The kids saw it and were keen to learn to make a video too. Using iMovie to create, I didn't even have to show them how to get started. It was pretty simple and they figured it out all by themselves. Very IT savvy I must say!

Anyway, enjoy this video which was fully directed by our ever so talented Zac and Nana!

When skyping is our only way of communication

Here we go again with our school holiday routine. The kids spend their weekdays over at nenek's house while we work. Now that there is Skype, we tried to catch up face-to-face every night.

And during the day, Skype is our way of texting each other. Because we always talk instead of messaging, it feels kind of exciting to see how the kids reply.

Zac's Form Teacher

Time really flies. It's the end of the academic year and both kids are moving on to their next stage of school life next year. Zac will be in P4 and Nana in P2.

Today, we attended the Parent's-Teacher Meeting in school. It was our 1st time this year. Prior to the session, I was telling the children how excited I was. I have seen Nana's teacher and have spoken to her a few times before. Where else for Zac, since he is in the morning session, and I had to work, I have never got the chance to meet her in person.

Zac began describing how he has been feeling in class this entire year. He was sharing how stressful it was for him. Apparently, his teacher has an eye condition where one eye actually faces outward, and thus looks like both eyes are not looking at the same target.

There were a few occasions where his teacher looked at a student and told him/her to stand up. But due to her eye condition, Zac panicked and thought he was the one being called out and immediately stood up. To his surprise, teacher always ask "Zac, why did you stand up?" Phew. That was a relief for him. Haha.

So when he found out that he is going to get another teacher next year, can you imagine how pleased he was?! That smile on his face says it all!

Our Model Pupil

What can we say? We are really proud of our two Model Pupil. Keep it up guys!
Like what Mama and Papa always say, we should not only focus on academic excellence. It is equally important to have good attitude and character! And to be kind to everyone around you!

Papa!!!

So much has happened these past 2 weeks. The incident with our maid has left the kids traumatized. It really breaks my heart to see and hear the kids requesting to move house.

Everything happened when papa was away in Udon for detachment. Our maid sure knows when to cause a ruckus. Anyway, I managed to send her back to the agency, and thank goodness I didn't give in to her plea when she requested for a second chance. Found so much rubbish in her cupboard when I packed her stuff up! How could someone so pious do this! Such a b****!

Anyway, papa requested to come back early. And thank goodness there was a replacement to cover him.

Look at how surprised and happy the kids were when papa appeared at the doorstep! Priceless smiles!
They didn't expect to see him 2 weeks early.

Happy Mother's Day!

This mother's day is extra meaningful to me. Things haven't been smooth sailing recently. So much has happened and even when dear is away, they managed to pull it off together, preparing gift cards and making me a cup of coffee. All unhappiness and tiredness instantly goes away when I received these in the letter box last night. Their actions really melt my heart.

Each time I feel defeated, looking at both of them do give me the strength to persevere and not give up. I've tried and failed at many things in life but I will NEVER stop giving my 100% at being the best mum I can be.

Having both Zac and Nana in my life is the best gift I could have ever asked for.
And the kids have endless surprises for me. They woke up extra early today, took my handphone and played this from Youtube. Such a pleasant surprise to wake up to! What a great way to start my day!

Happy Mother's Day to all mums out there! Enjoy this video!

Father and Son battle

Once Zac completed all his school homework, he took out his Nerf guns... And there we were, in a cross fire, a battle between father and son.

Edusave Character Award

Zac received the Edusave Character Award today...
So proud of our little boy...
Keep up the good work Zac! We are so proud of you!...

When a membership request is denied...

Recently, Zac is so into this new online game called "Disney Club Penguin". With exclusive benefits like inviting other members to his "house" and collecting as many "likes" for the decorations that he has put up, Zac wanted so much to be a member and bugged us to make the payment for registration... Knowing that he will get addicted, we rejected him. But this cheeky monkey sure knows how to make us feel guilty.

Though upset, he continued playing with whatever minimum access that he could get. A while later, he came over to papa and said...

Zac: "Pa, you know... Who visited my house in club penguin today?"
Papa: "Who?"
Zac: "Nobody..." (said with an expressionless look)

Then he went on with...

Zac: "Then you know... 3 people liked my house today too... U know who?"
Papa: "Who?"
Zac: "It's me..." (again said with an expressionless look)

Both mama and papa broke into laughter upon hearing this... Kids!
