Nana's achievements!

This girl proved to us that nothing is impossible if you work hard for it. She has always wanted to perform in the school musical and auditioned for it last year.  And she was one of the only two P2 students selected. Being involved in the musical meant missing most of her lessons to attend training. And prior to the performance, rehearsals were very frequent and she would be in school all day, coming home as late as 10pm.

Once the actual performance was over, she had plenty of catching up to do, lots of make-up lessons and homeworks to submit. We could see how physically drained she was. But she never once complain about it. Her reply was always "I'm tired. But it's okay. I like this." In fact, we noticed that she was more motivated than ever.

During the year end meeting with her form teacher, the teacher thanked her profusely for supporting 2 of her friends who were going through a difficult time. She became their mentor, watching over them. It brought tears to our eyes when we saw how appreciative her teacher is towards her actions. Teacher reminded her and us the importance of studies, but reiterated how being caring and empathetic is equally crucial. Nana demonstrated these qualities and received the Model Pupil Award last month.

So, today, when she opened up the mail and saw the certificate, she jumped in joy! All her hard work this year has paid off, and she is awarded for being in the top 25% in terms of academic performance in the level and course and good conduct in school. Look at that proud smile... Well done bb! Mama and papa are so proud of you!

The story about Aliyah by Nana

Nana was saying that she has finished her composition and needed papa to help with the printing. I was impressed with what she has done, the choice of words, contents, layout and pictures... Our 8 year old girl did it all by herself on her iPad!

We are so proud of our baby girl who received the Model Pupil Award for this academic year.
Congratulations bb!
Keep up the good work in school.

Our little chefs

I meant to search for a cookbook and thus made a trip to the library on Wednesday. And since the kids were home due to PSLE marking closure, I brought them along. The two of them were on their own looking for books while I immersed myself in my pile of cookbooks... Its funny when both showed me the books they intended to borrow...

"Ma, they have really good recipes here. Can we borrow? We thought of cooking for you and papa on Saturday."

And so, today marks a new milestone for our precious kids... Nana cooked scrambled eggs and pancakes for breakfast... She cracked the eggs, weighed the different ingredients according to the recipe and managed the frying all by herself. Of course under our close supervision...

For lunch, Zac planned on cooking hamburger and BBQ chicken... We ran out of quite a number of ingredients and Zac volunteered to do the shopping all by himself!

Look at our sumptuous lunch!

I want to wash my shoes!

Our weekends are usually busy. We find ourselves running from one place to another, rushing to get our marketing done, run errands, visit our parents, etc etc. And most importantly, ensure that the kids' school work is complete. Madness!!!

Anyway, Zac has been wanting to wash his school shoes himself. But we really couldn't afford the time to let him do it.

Today, since we are forced to stay indoors due to the haze, its the perfect time to show him the skills to get that sparkly white shoes!
And he did it! Exceed our expectations! A good scrub and his grey shoes turned white!
